Baking begins in the early hours of the morning, so if you happen to be up soon after 5am, you can grab a burek for breakfast.Mother and father Frances and Tome Urosevski and their children, Roman and Ilinnka, are involved in running this busy bakery on Rockdale's main shopping drag. Tome keeps wildly antisocial hours to get the first burek of the day out to customers and keeps baking them throughout the day. Fillings include cheese, meat or cheese and spinach. The cheese is creamy and mild and the spinach is lightly cooked, retaining its brilliant green. The pastry, painted with a mix of lard and vegetable oil between layers prior to baking, is golden and crunchy. Requests for lard-free versions will be met if notice is given. Collapse

Bureks and baklavas are excellent in Alexander's bakery. We buy 2-3 bureks every Sat before going camping or doing activities. Our favourites are cheese and meat bureks.I would recommend to buy a piece of the hot cheese burek with a glass of chilled buttermilk or a cup of coffee.
