A Tavola which actually means “to the table” takes diners to the heart of old-fashioned Italian eating and cooking. Chef Eugene Maiale treats families an Italian affair as he cooks famous Italian cuisine.

A combination of old-fashioned Italian cooking mixed a modern style of dining and food presentation is A Tavola’s specialty. Diners sit on large communal tables and chose from a daily blackboard menu of fresh pastas. A variety of delectable and fresh ingredients are always used in A Tavola’s food which include parmigiano, proscuttio, buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes ripened from the vine.

A Tavola was inspired from its owner and head chef’s childhood. When Maiale was a child, he would always wait to hear the chime of “A Tavola” as he played in his Adelaide home backyard, every time when dinner for the family was ready. The kitchen table of Maiale’s family always had traditional, honest and simple style dishes as his mother always makes her own pasta every day, whether it be a tortellini, a ravioli, or a tagliolini.

Chef Eugenio got his talents from his mother and from watching relatives as they make assorted pastas like gnocchi and parpadelle on big wooden tables, which they rolled with either broom handles or by hand. This was how he developed his techniques, during his visits to Italy when he was a child.

Chef Eugenio’s Italian cuisine is described as mostly “Abruzzese”, with heavy emphasis on fresh and dried pasta which are cooked to order. Eugenio created an exquisite Italian experience through a “euro chic” designed dining area.

It's an Italian family affair at A Tavola which means “to the table” taking diners right back to the heart of traditional Italian cooking and eating. Stretching down the length of the cosy restaurant is an impressive marble table at which the guests sit, to enjoy the dishes prepared by chef Eugene Maiale.

A Tavola combines traditional Italian cooking with a modern approach to food presentation and dining. Diners can sit a large communal table and enjoy fresh pastas from a daily blackboard menu. Delectable, fresh ingredients include buffalo mozzarella, proscuttio, parmigiano and vine ripened tomatoes.
