A designated area bound by Federation Road, Church Street, the St Stephens Church wall and the diagonal path leading from the church boundary to Federation Road is a timed off leash dog exercise area. Dogs can run and play without a leash in the timed off leash dog exercise area between the hours of 5pm and 9am seven days a week. Dogs must be on a leash in the timed off leash dog exercise area between the hours of 9am and 5pm and all other areas of the park at all times.

It is also a very large, peaceful bushy spot for the kids in gritty, groovy downtown Newtown. This is a large, rectangular playground which has been beautifully landscaped with bushy plants, sandstone, and wood. Some of the play structures are wooden and there are good sandpits. It all feels very natural which is lovely to see in the inner city.

There are swings, a great wobble bridge and several play structures. There are plenty benches and picnic tables inside the playground too.

Newtown Festival is held here every year.
