District Dining is the most recent venture by Chef Warren Turnbull. According to this Kiwi born chef, “I wanted to create something where I wanted to go and eat all the time. This is sort of a present to myself.” District Dining opened in October of 2010, and in a short span of time, the Surry Hills bistro received an award with a high score of 15/20. The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide gave this after just a month of operations.

District Dining is a high-energy contemporary venue that provides great style, quality and good value to their clients. Food that is served in District Dining would always include Chef Turnbull’s touch. However, the menu for the bistro is a whole lot different from what the Chef offers in Assiette, another restaurant that he runs located just around the corner.

Head Chefs, Grant Astle and Warren Turnbull, created a global tasting list of dishes that can either be enjoyed by one or shared with a small group of people. There are blackboards & mirrors that line the walls of this bistro and they can be filled with daily specials and suggestions for the guests. The menu comes with an international selection of beers, fine wines & exotic cocktails made by Sommelier & Restaurant Manager, Lindsay Carr. According to Lindsay, “We are not trying to do anything fancy and we are not doing anything that hasn’t been done before, we are just doing simple, tasty food and great wines, at affordable prices!”

So, whether you want to have a meal with friends and family or you are entertaining business contacts and clients, District Dining will definitely provide you with excellent service within its large yet comfortable dining area.

District Dining is the latest venture by Kiwi born chef Warren Turnbull. “I wanted to create something where I wanted to go and eat all the time. This is sort of a present to myself.” Opening in October of last year, the Surry Hills bistro was awarded the impressionable score of 15/20 by the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide (Terry Durack) only a month later.

District Dining is a high energy modern bistro that delivers style, quality and good value to our guests. Although the food is recognisably Turnbull’s style, it is vastly different from what is dished up at his two-hatted restaurant, Assiette, around the corner.

Being in the same neighbourhood doesn’t discourage comparison. One is a noted home of post-classical haute cuisine, the kind of place you go for a special occasion or to think about the craft of labour-intensive food and the break from routine it provides. And the other? The kind of place you might want to go every fortnight, relax, eat tasty food and maybe even drink too much, occasionally. You know, hang out. John Lethlean, The Australian

Whether you are having a meal with friends, family or entertaining clients District Dining will deliver professional service within its spacious yet buzzing dining room.

Great staff, genuine hospitality, a sensible little wine list and food that elevates second-string restaurants into a new league of style makes District well and truly worth your money. John Lethlean, The Australian
