What child hasn’t imagined growing up to be a firefighter?

For all would be Firefighters the Museum of Fire is the place to be. Once through the door all the children head straight to the Junior Fire Fighters Area

The flashing lights on the two half cabin fire engines set their imaginations free. With lights and sirens and a life size video screen they can race an engine to a fire steering through the city streets!

Nearby are the computer games reinforcing fire safety messages where the young firefighter can challenge the parent’s knowledge. Work tables set up with worksheets, colouring stencils, puzzle sheets, hands on activities, jigsaw puzzles and big book reading on fire safety are also available. Slip on a jacket and there is the chance of a picture of the young firefighter, ready for action. For a small additional fee the children can experience a ride in a real fire engine.

During school vacations there is free face painting, fire safety talks with real firefighters. After a fun film in the theatre the outside picnic area with a fantastic playground is available to continue the adventure.

The Junior Firefighter’s Area is rated top of the list by all of the two to ten year olds who visit the Museum.
