Located on South Terrace, Fremantle's famous cafe strip, the Newport sure knows how to please a crowd. Although classified as a heritage-listed building, the Newport definitely maintains a contemporary feel throughout. Trendy and clean cut decor, combined with a sleek mix of wooden floors and steely fixture gives this pub the perfect balance between old and new.

The Newport not only looks great, but it boasts several different bar and hangout areas, including an Atrium, a lane area, an upstairs function room, a front bar and let's not forget the mighty S2 Jager bar. In addition to this, the Newport also houses a cracking live band room. With bands and DJs featuring regularly during the week and on weekends, this sizeable area holds a big crowd and an even bigger sound.

The Newport has an excellent track record when it comes to live music. The venue has been host to a number of outstanding Australian and International acts including The Specials, Ben Kweller, Salmonella Dub, The Presets, The Panics, Shihad, Philadelphia Grand Jury, Sleepy Jackson, The Beautiful Girls, Muscles, Sarah Blasko, Eskimo Joe, Regurgitator, Gerling, Rocket Science, Tex Perkins, Jebediah, One Man Party, After the Fall, Vandalism, SGT Slick, John Course and a countless line-up of class local acts.

The drinks selection is a decent one, with beers, wines and Jager-related cocktails stealing the show. There's also a beergarden and a bottleshop downstairs, just in case you feel like kicking on after the doors shut. Overall the Newport really is a favourite with punters. With such great surrounds, and the clientele coming back night after night, there will always be a place in Freo for the good old Newy.
