This modern restaurant is evocative of an abstract art gallery, serving aesthetically astounding masterpieces constructed from excellent Japanese food. The space itself is not the bare white room of a gallery; warm and womb-like red walls surround diners as they relax on rattan chairs. The sense of visual balance comes to full fruition in the food, with some dishes featuring bright contrasting colours and ingredients woven together on a plate or, as in the tasting plate, set out in a checkerboard pattern. The food itself has more to recommend it than just the visual, offering an interesting blend of Japanese and European flavours. The excellent sushi and sashimi is recommended, but those wanting a little bit of modern fusion might try the Japanese mushrooms with caviar in a creamy spaghetti.
