This former Walsh Bay restaurant is relocated to the old Becasse site on Clarence Street. Co-owners and co-chefs Adam and Lovaine Humphrey’s brought Sydneysiders a modern European menu. In addition to this relocation, Adam and Lovaine will open a hole-in-the-wall cafe called “Arras Too” which will serve Allpress coffee, a selection of hand-made cakes and French-style banana bread. Perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up.

There's a distinct English wryness that permeates Arras, from the Union Jack-inspired design on the seating to the European twists Yorkshire chef Adam Humphries takes to his dishes. With its exposed brick wall and heavy timber beams, this heritage-listed site retains a certain degree of class and romance. Try the crab bread and butter pudding for size and you will get the idea.

Restaurant Arras has been awarded one hat in the SMH Good Food Guide since 2008 as Head chef and co-owner Adam Humphrey continues to push the envelope, creating a modern contemporary British menu with whimsical, over-the-top presentations that even Joan Rivers’ face is considered pasty in comparison.

Its location adjacent to the Sydney Theatre Company also makes it a prime destination for the theatre-going crowd.
