Robert Muir Old & Rare Books was established in 1973 by Robert and Helen Muir. In 1987, their daughter-in-law, Janet Muir, joined the family business as cataloguer and researcher, specialising in Australiana, art, early exploration and manuscript material. Following Robert's death, Janet and her husband Rob Muir purchased the business and continue to operate the bookshop from the two storey residence situated adjacent to the University of Western Australia. Helen continues to work in the business. Tara Surry catalogues and searches for books for clients.
