The Lord Dudley Hotel is Australia's best known and popular English styled pub with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. A must if you're visiting Australia.
A varied menu, something for everyone found in our award winning garden and lounge restaurants. The best pub food in Sydney.
18 Beers on tap, extensive bottled beer list. A great selection of Australian wine from large and small vineyards.
The Lord Dudley is an enigma in that it does not have a defined clientele. The regulars come from all walks of life. Trades people and office workers rub shoulders with barristers, stockbrokers and politicians. The rich and the famous also find it a great place to unwind. Don't be surprised to find Hollywood Actors having dinner in the restaurant while prominate sports heroes are enjoying a drink in the front bar. Publican James (Jamie) Couche has created a feel good environment which appeals to everyone who calls in.
For visitors to Sydney, especially from the U.K. and New Zealand, The Dudley is a favourite place to meet friends, be it for business or pleasure. The decor, the pork pies and pickled eggs in the public bar, the dart room, the old English prints and artefacts on the wall, give all, especially the Poms a feeling of home.
The pub is on three levels. The basement is for contemporary Australian dining and has a garden bar restaurant. On the ground floor is the Public Bar, Saloon Bar and Lounge area. Upstairs are two more lounges which can booked privately for functions or enjoyed as a quiet alternative to the downstairs hum of activity, with a fully serviced bar. Each level offers its own atmosphere although the old English theme prevails.
As you enter the Public Bar from Jersey Road you get your first taste of why the Dudley is so popular. It simply oozes warmth and tradition. It is a real pub in the true sense with dark wood panelling, a long wooden bar, antiques on the walls and an old fireplace. If you are here for lunch or dinner, a quencher in the Public Bar beforehand is a must. You may have a problem deciding which beer to have as the selection is huge. Of course the most popular Aussie beers are on tap, but so is Boddingtons, Kilkenny and even Stella Artois.
You can enter the Lounge from the Back Bar or from Quarry Street. Besides the decor, what will hit you is the huge sandstone fireplace at the end wall. Lunch is served in the Lounge between 12am and 3pm while dinner is the reserve of the restaurant downstairs. If the restaurant is booked out for lunch you can generally find a table in the Lounge.
From the Public Bar you can walk into the Saloon Bar where the dart room is located. It is an intimate little spot which is most often claimed by the regulars
The "Upstairs Bar" is open to everyone after 5 pm. That is of course unless, as is often the case, it is booked for a private function or party. Great place to get a group of friends or business associates together for drinks, and cocktail party catering is of course also available.
The Garden Bar is situated in the main restuarant and is a full bar with an extensive wine list.
The Restaurant is in three sections - The "Garden Restaurant", "Bordello" and the "Lounge (lunch only)"
