The Metro Theatre has long been Sydney’s leading independent rock venue and has played host to some of the most memorable live gigs Sydney music fans have seen and heard. It is a landmark venue for both international and local acts, being a pivotal breakthrough venue for bands as they break on to the scene.

Some of the acts to grace the Metro stage include Muse, Placebo, The Eels, Alex Lloyd, Damien Rice, Gomez, The Dandy Warhols, Eskimo Joe, The Hives and Beth Orton.

With unparalleled sightlines, a friendly atmosphere and a brand new Nexo Alpha sound system recently installed, the Metro continues to be the best live music venue in the centre of the city and an important icon in the history of rock.

Situated in the heart of George Street’s bustling entertainment district, directly across from the Cinema strip, and close to Darling Harbour and Oxford Street, The Metro is centrally located and easy to find.

There is no shortage of cafes, restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity of The Metro. Both Chinatown and the Spanish Quarter are adjacent to the area and provide a range of meals for all budgets. Please remember, we have a strict door policy and are committed to responsible service so please drink in moderation.
